Heading into the unknown!

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain.

If you’re like me your mind wanders to far off distant places. Into the unknown!

Why would someone travel on their own? What makes someone want to explore? These can be personal questions, but there is a common thread.

Two years ago I took a solo trip from California to Finland on my motorcycle. Over 11,000 mile trip that challenged both body and mind. It was my trip, my way.

A year later, I came back to Finland to Tour Norway.

This year I’m off to Portugal to meet up with friends, Craig and Todd. Were going to play with an Australian Rugby team I played with in Wales on the first trip to Finland. The ‘Outsiders’! A fitting team name for sure! It sparked yet another reason to get back on the Iron camel and explore.

There is a natural curiosity, passion, discipline, courageousness and perseverance that comes with exploring. Traits that many explorers share. While I’m not paving the way into an unknown world. Its my unknown! It’s my challenge! An opportunity, yet again, to see the world through the eyes of a helmet.

People have asked why would you go alone? While it’s not my preferred way to travel. You can’t wait for someone to share in your passion and do it the way you want. You can go where you want, do what you want, and learn to make decisions on the fly. It can actually be a great way to learn how to let your instincts take over. That being said though, shout out to my D.A.R team, as we share in the true mode of motorcycle travel incessantly.

My plan is to get to Portugal, the rest is depends on how I feel in the  moment/day. So I suppose it’s a plan without a real plan. The art of planning without planning.

Below is the Route;

I’m out…. see you on the road!!!
